YEIDEP Grant Committee Set to Oversee ₦500,000 Grants and Business Support
The Federal Government has officially launched the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP), a bold initiative aimed at empowering young Nigerians through business grants, technical training, and long-term mentorship. With over five million applications already submitted, the programme stands as one of the most ambitious youth-focused interventions in the country's history.
The launch, held in Abuja, introduced a dedicated YEIDEP Committee tasked with managing the overwhelming response. This committee will ensure transparency, timely fund disbursement, and comprehensive support for selected beneficiaries throughout the programme.
Representing the Minister of Youth Development at the event, an official emphasized that the committee's role extends beyond financial distribution. They will also monitor businesses, provide mentorship, and evaluate outcomes to ensure measurable impact.
The National Coordinator of YEIDEP highlighted that Nigeria's youth are pivotal to the nation's economic future, noting that the surge in applications reflects a demand for real opportunities, not just financial aid. Similarly, the Permanent Secretary (also represented) described the high turnout as proof of young Nigerians' hunger for meaningful change and sustainable growth.
