The Chikungunya virus is transmitted to human through the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes. You only get infected when a mosquito with chikungunya bites you. Currently, there is no cure but rather treatment to manage the symptoms.
This virus usually develops from three to seven days after you’ve been bitten by it. But in some cases, it could be two or twelve days.

Symptoms

There are also vaccines developed for this virus by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). They are:
1. Ixchiq
This is a vaccine made from a weakened chikungunya virus. Its infection is mild in such a way that a healthy immune system can control it. Ixchiq can only be used by people aged 18 and older.
Vimkunya
This vaccine is also made from the virus. It allows the immune system to get ready to protect the body. From age 12 and older can use it.
